Amartyaleelā is a dance school that focuses on preserving Bharatnatyam through teaching its students. Founded in 2020, the school aims to encourage students to surrender to the character’s emotions and be vulnerable while performing. At Amartyaleelā, students are introduced to different exercises for stretching to increase their flexibility and incorporate it into their movements. Through practice over the years, I have learned that technique and flexibility go hand in hand. While teaching students the theory that is based on the Natyashāstra, they are encouraged to explore the history of this art. This school is dedicated to supporting the art form through its students while also opening up new horizons through choreography and story-telling.
